While the South may be known for housing restaurants that specialized in flavorful soul food, you can find eateries around the country that have perfected their take on the cuisine and have become a must-visit for foodies in search of a comforting meal.
Using reviews, awards and accolades as well as first-hand experience, LoveFood compiled a list of the "best soul food restaurant" in every state that serves up dishes full of "heartiness, comfort and finger-licking flavor."
According to the site, the top spot in all of Washington is Simply Soulful. As the name suggests, this Seattle eatery crafts delicious dishes packed with flavor and good for the soul. Simply Soulful, located at 2321 S. Jackson Street, has a 4.2 star rating on Google and more than 700 reviews.

"Simply Soulful is famous for its breakfast menu of Big Biscuit Sandwiches stuffed with a variety of fillings such as egg, cheese, and meat, shrimp and grits, and chicken and cornbread waffles. Another menu highlight, the sweet potato pie, is made from a recipe passed down through generations."
